Secure Payment Processing with Stripe & Escrow Protection

Kainamo prioritizes the security and trust of both buyers and sellers. Our payment system uses industry-leading Stripe technology combined with an escrow model to ensure every transaction is protected.

How Payments Work

For Buyers

All purchases on Kainamo are processed securely through Stripe. We accept:

  • Credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover)
  • Digital wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay)
  • ACH bank transfers (where available)

Your payment information is never stored on Kainamo’s servers; all transactions are encrypted and processed directly through Stripe’s secure payment infrastructure.

For Sellers

When you register as a seller on Kainamo, a Stripe account is automatically created and connected to your profile. This ensures:

  • Seamless payment processing without manual setup
  • Compliance with financial regulations through Stripe’s verified infrastructure
  • Automatic tax documentation (1099 forms for US sellers)
  • Secure fund transfers directly to your bank account

Escrow Protection System

What is Escrow?

Escrow is a secure payment holding system that protects both buyers and sellers. When a customer makes a purchase, funds are held safely by Kainamo until the transaction is successfully completed.

How It Works:

For Physical Products (Creations)

  1. Customer pays → Payment is securely held in escrow
  2. Seller ships product → Customer receives their order
  3. Order marked “Completed” → 7-day hold period begins
  4. After 7 days → Funds are released to the seller’s wallet for withdrawal

This waiting period protects customers by allowing time to inspect items and report any issues, while ensuring sellers receive payment for legitimate transactions.

For Services (Custom Design, Print on Demand, Services on Demand)

  1. Customer pays full amount → Payment held in escrow
  2. Seller completes work → Seller marks service as “Completed”
  3. Customer review period → Customer receives notification to approve completion
  4. Payment release options:
    • Customer marks as “Completed” → 7-day hold begins, then payment released
    • Customer requests revisions → Work continues until both parties agree on completion
    • No customer response within 7 days → Payment automatically released to seller

Why this matters: Complex services require collaboration. Our system ensures sellers get paid for completed work while giving customers the opportunity to request reasonable revisions.

Note: First-time sellers may experience slightly longer processing times as part of fraud prevention measures.

Seller Wallet & Withdrawals

Your Kainamo Wallet

Once funds are released from escrow, they appear in your Kainamo wallet. From there, you can:

  • Request withdrawals to your connected bank account
  • Track earnings across all your products and services
  • View transaction history with detailed breakdowns

Withdrawal Process

  • Minimum withdrawal amount: $10
  • Processing time: 2-5 business days to your bank account
  • Frequency: Request withdrawals anytime you meet the minimum threshold
  • No withdrawal fees for standard transfers

Service Extensions & Modifications

Need More Time?

Sellers can request deadline extensions for service projects through the order management system. Extensions require customer approval to ensure both parties agree on the updated timeline.

Project Changes

If a project scope changes significantly, sellers can:

  1. Communicate changes through the Kainamo messaging system
  2. Request customer agreement on revised terms
  3. Document scope changes for mutual protection.

Important: Our escrow system releases funds only upon full project completion. Partial payouts are not available, ensuring clear completion milestones and protecting both parties.

Seller Account Requirements

All sellers must complete Stripe’s identity verification process, which may include:

  • Government-issued ID
  • Tax identification (SSN/EIN for US sellers)
  • Bank account verification
  • Business information (for business accounts)

This verification process protects the entire Kainamo community and ensures compliance with financial regulations.

Refunds & Disputes

Buyer Protection

If an item doesn’t arrive or doesn’t match the description:

  1. Contact the seller first through Kainamo messaging
  2. If unresolved, open a dispute within 14 days of delivery
  3. Kainamo’s support team will mediate and review evidence
  4. Funds remain in escrow during dispute resolution

Seller Protection

Escrow protects sellers from fraudulent chargebacks by:

  • Requiring delivery confirmation for physical products
  • Documenting customer approval for services
  • Providing communication records through our platform
  • Holding funds until legitimate completion is confirmed

Fees & Pricing Transparency

Transaction Fees

  • Stripe processing fee: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction (standard US rates)
  • Kainamo platform fee: [INSERT PERCENTAGE]% of sale price
  • Sellers receive: Sale price minus fees

All fees are clearly displayed before listing items for sale. What you see is what you get, no hidden charges.

Kainamo supports sellers in USA. Stripe handles currency conversion automatically, and sellers receive payments in their local currency. International transaction fees may vary; check your seller dashboard for specific rates.

For US Sellers

  • Earnings over $600/year: IRS Form 1099-K issued automatically by Stripe
  • Track your earnings in real-time through your seller dashboard
  • Download transaction reports for tax preparation

For International Sellers

Tax obligations vary by country. Sellers are responsible for reporting income according to local tax laws. Kainamo provides detailed transaction histories to support your tax reporting needs.
